Trailer slams into Lost Creek porch

LOST CREEK - West Mahanoy Township police reported no injuries in an accident that occurred in front of 530 Mount Olive Blvd., Route 54, in this village at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said the accident occurred as Robert J. Ferrari, 47, of 213 Preston Ave., Girardville, was driving a 1987 Chevrolet pickup truck east pulling a 2000 Kutz 18-foot flatbed trailer owned by Anthracite Auto Sales, Girardville.
While passing the home of Robert J. Brann Jr., the trailer broke loose from the hitch, crossed the westbound lane and struck porch of the Brann home, police said.
The force of the collision smashed the support beams and concrete steps of the porch.
Police said they suspect that the safety chains designed to prevent the trailer from coming loose were not in use.
Police said charges are pending their conclusion of the investigation.
