Police seek copper thieves

State police at Frackville are looking for those who stole copper welding lead and a copper electrical cord between Thursday night and Friday morning from JJ&W Coal Company, Kaska.

Police said the theft occurred between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 874-5300.

Police: Man sold cocaine to cop

A Bristol man was taken to county prison Thursday after he sold $200 worth of cocaine to an undercover police officer in Pottsville, according to state police at Frackville.

Police said Christopher Todd Glimp, 25, made the deal just after 10 p.m. At the time of his arrest, police said, Glimp was found to be in possession of $1,400 of additional crack cocaine.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Bernadette J. Nahas, Frackville, and taken to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

David Flail, 40, of Pottsville, was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and will be charged via summons, police said.

City man charged in hit-and-run

A city man has been charged in a hit-and-run for striking two parked cars Thursday along the 1700 block of First Avenue in Pottsville, according to Pottsville police.

Police said Charles Williams, 35, of North Second Street, had been wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said Williams caused severe damage to both vehicles.

$8K of equipment stolen in Tremont

State police at Schuylkill Haven are searching for those who stole more than $8,000 worth of welding equipment from the Michael Coal Company, Tremont, in a four-year period between October 2004 and June.

Police said someone cut the lock that secures the property, drove approximately one-tenth of a mile to the office and tools trailer and removed multiple welding tools valued at $8,385. The burglars also cut the lock on the gasoline tank and stole an undetermined amount of fuel, police said.

Woman cheated out of cash for car

A 19-year-old Tower City woman was cheated out of $4,400 earlier this month, state police at Schuylkill Haven said.

According to police, Natasha Donmoyer believed she had purchased a 2004 Volkswagen R32 from AutoTrader.com, sending a money gram on Oct. 1 to Brian Mitchell, San Jose, Calif., at the request of the seller. Someone picked up the $4,400 money gram later that day in College Park, Ga.

Police continue to investigate.

2 men charged after incident

Two city men were charged for their roles in a fist fight Thursday night in Pottsville.

Pottsville police said Christopher J. Harper, 21, and Paul E. Hough, 24, came to blows outside of 309 W. Market St. shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. An investigation revealed that Hough had punched Harper, injuring his lower lip. Police said Hough was taken into custody for simple assault and disorderly conduct. Harper was taken into custody for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

Pine Grove woman’s mailbox targeted

State police at Schuylkill Haven are looking for whoever damaged a Pine Grove woman’s mailbox last Tuesday.

Police said someone pulled up to Kristen Kishpaugh’s Pine Grove residence on Oct. 7 about 11:30 p.m. in a blue or green Volkswagen Jetta and broke the door of her mailbox, causing approximately $20 in damage.

No one hurt in Dauphin crash

A Millersburg man was charged Tuesday in a two-car crash in Washington Township, Dauphin County, according to state police at Lykens.

Police said a utility trailer Eric L. Ramberger had been towing came loose due to numerous equipment violations on Tuesday about 8:40 p.m. as he was traveling south along Route 209, striking Sarah Heisey’s Pontiac Sunfire. The 26-year-old Williamstown resident and Ramberger were not injured, police said.

State police at Hamburg say someone damaged a Hamburg woman’s mailbox on Sunday.

Woman reports vandalized mailbox

Karen Marie Wanner’s mailbox, located along Krick Lane, was damaged between 5 and 10 p.m. Sunday. Police said a vandal struck the mailbox with an undetermined object.

Woman hurt avoiding crash

CRESSONA - A Cressona woman escaped with minor injuries after being forced to lay down her motorcycle to avoid a collision on state Route 183 Thursday night, state police at Schuylkill Haven said.

Police said Michelle Goodman, 39, was traveling north on 183 on a 1995 Kawasaki 750cc when a small black car pulled out from a Hess station at 20 Pottsville St. Goodman laid down her motorcycle to avoid striking the rear end of the car, police said. Authorities said witnesses saw a male driver in the car.
