ODD CRASH KILLS TROOPER

Article Text:

A sergeant with the state police barracks in Uniontown was killed in a traffic accident, state police said yesterday.

Sgt. John J. Arminas, 53, was traveling with his wife on Interstate 80 in Schuylkill County on Friday afternoon when a pickup truck came loose from a trailer towing it and rolled across the median. The truck came into the opposite lanes of the interstate and struck the Arminas vehicle head-on, Trooper David Martin said.

Arminas died at Samaritan Hospital in Pottstown. His wife was in fair condition at the same hospital.

Arminas, a resident of Shenandoah in Schuylkill County, was a 33-year veteran of the state police.
